Thyme in the Ranch is my favorite Southern California bakery. Just the other day, as I walked in the door and approached the counter, my first words were, "It's worth coming here just to smell the goodness!"
Many years ago I had the fortunate experience of being a professional baker in an amazing french bakery. To this day, it remains my favorite bakery. In the world. The owner was a Paris-trained baker and was fanatical about her delicious breads and pastries. Bachata Nights with Carlos

The day I met Carlos, we became instant friends. I had just finished teaching a Yoga class and he came into the room and introduced himself as someone who wanted to start teaching dance. One of the people in the class asked him to show some moves and he instantly obliged. It was obvious he was a gifted dancer, but as we all know, when someone is good at something, it does not necessarily mean they can teach. As a matter of fact, it's been my experience that it is usually the exact opposite.

Weekend in San Francisco

Nearly 30 years ago, I spent a long weekend in San Francisco and have been fortunate to do it again many times since, for a variety of reasons - to visit friends, attend conferences, and to layover on my way into/out of the country (which I highly recommend). And one of the best parts about my most recent trip to San Francisco is that Virgin America now has $59/one-way non-stop flights from San Diego.
