Rose Theater in Port Townsend, Washington is unlike any movie theater I have experienced. A billion years ago I went to a similar theater in Florida but this one is special for a few reasons. According to the theatre’s website, the Rose opened as a vaudeville house in 1907 and has transitioned through the years from silent film to our modern day experience. Before I get into that experience I must mention the people working at the Rose.
When we arrived with our already-purchased online tickets the greeter at the door seemed to know who we were! She was very welcoming and knew exactly what she was doing. Then we got in line to order our cocktails (yes they serve cocktails) and popcorn. The bartender was amazing! And my cocktail was one of the best I have ever had. My friends agreed.
We then proceeded to the theater which had comfy sofas and chairs and chandeliers. A woman came out before the movie and talked about the upcoming schedule and special showings. The movie began, we sat back in our comfy sofa, sipped our delicious cocktails and enjoyed the show!
Clearly movies are carefully selected to be featured at this wonderful venue. It was worth the hour drive from Bainbridge Island. Besides, the drive was also very scenic. Here is a link to the Rose Theater so you can learn more about its history:
