Missy Andersen and Her Band

Missy Andersen’s website starts off with this line: “YOU’LL KNOW EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MISSY ANDERSEN shortly after she hits the stage in her “cute shoes.” Yes, she really has a voice — powerful, passionate and satiny at the same time — and she’s fun, with a coy, sexy-girl-next-door way about her, and a sly sense of humor.”
Well, I have to disagree. Just the other day, before Missy even took the stage, she was greeting and welcoming people in the audience and walked over to a large mat that was on the ground and took what seemed like forever, to straighten it, obviously concerned that someone might trip. She stepped back and gazed at the mat, again, for what seemed like forever, to make sure the mat was just right. When she appeared satisfied, she greeted a few more people, grabbed the microphone, took the stage, and began to entertain with the same perfection she applied to the straightening of the mat.

I once heard an interview with Rihanna in which she spoke about her experience watching Michael Jackson rehearse for his then upcoming concert in London. She said that, as smooth and effortless as Michael appears when he performs, make no mistake about it, his every move, every beat, is well-thought-out and choreographed to perfection. I believe Missy has a similar approach to her music and everything she does in life.

Missy Andersen is one of the best entertainers you will ever see. But it gets better! Her band is awesome!! Each of the musicians are world-class quality in their own right. An evening’s performance by Missy and the guys goes on seamlessly as if these incredible musicians are best friends whom have known each other their entire lives.

I strongly urge you to visit Missy’s website at www.missyandersen.com and read her bio. Now that I know a little more about her, it is no surprise that I am a huge fan of both Billie Holiday and Missy Andersen. Often, I tell my children I wish I lived at a different time. And then I go see Missy Andersen perform and I’m so happy I live right here and now. The fact that I can drive 10 minutes to one of the local wineries and see her, reminds me just how fortunate I am. I only wish my parents could be with me. I am certain they would not sit down the entire time because it’s nearly impossible to sit when Missy’s in the house!
