If you’re a lover of Ukrainian foods, or a lover of great food in general, a visit to Kramarczuk’s is a must! But be careful because once you start the journey down the cafeteria-style line of selections, it is going to be very difficult to choose what you’d like. Halfway through, I had to stop looking at the mouth-watering dishes and other people’s trays. Everyone in line was talking with each other and changing their minds and adding more and more. By the time I got to the cashier, I had enough food on my tray to feed a family of four! And of course, anyone who knows me knows I don’t waste food so I proceeded to eat EVERYTHING ON MY TRAY!! I am certain my friend was shocked. Even I was shocked I could eat so much.
I am 1/4 Ukrainian and 1/4 Polish so it’s only natural that I love these foods. I’m so glad there are still great restaurants making the effort to prepare them. I have a lot of respect for those who try to preserve their unique heritage and share it with the rest of us!
In addition to the gi-normous gwumki I ate, I just had to have everything with beets since I love them so much. The borscht was some of the best I have ever had!
In addition to the restaurant there is a huge deli and bakery with authentic offerings such as kolachi and apple strudel and chorizo and polish sausage.
Unfortunately I was too full to go back for dessert. Which means I’ll just have to re-visit this great restaurant when I return to Minneapolis. Until then, I hope you have the opportunity to visit. Here’s their website for more info:
