I’ve used Apple’s iTranslate and Google Translate (and other apps) for years. But recently I switched to using the DeepL App exclusively and I am loving it! Not surprised that the translation app boasts a 4.8 rating from nearly 5000 reviews. DeepL has been especially helpful recently because I was learning European Portuguese for a trip to Lisbon and the app translates both the Euro and the Brazilian versions of Portuguese which might surprise some to know, are quite different.
DeepL claims much higher translation accuracy when compared to competitors and is extremely easy to use. There is an audio option so that you can hear the actual pronunciation and a microphone if you prefer using voice rather than text. The app also offers multiple alternatives when a word or phrase has more than one meaning or can be used in different contexts. You can even change the voice speed so that you can slow down or speed up the audio translation.
And the best part about DeepL is that it’s free! Of course there are different levels of paid monthly subscriptions, but if you’re simply learning a language for basic needs such as travel, the free version is fantastic!
DeepL has a website, but I would suggest you simply download the app and just play with it. If you love languages, you’ll love DeepL!
Divirta-se! Tanoshinde! Amusez-vous bien! Diviértete! Pidä hauskaa! That’s “Have fun!” in Portuguese, Japanese, French, Spanish, and Finnish. All found easily on Deepl!
