Laugh Boston

We need to laugh more! This may be the understatement of the pandemic. Long story, but I somehow landed on a very funny stand-up comedian, David A. Arnold, and found out that he would be playing just across the bay at Laugh Boston. (I've already done a 5 Heart Rating on this hilarious comic!) So though the pandemic was still in full swing, protocol was in place at the venue and we ventured out for our very first event at a public venue since early 2020, like many of you, I'm sure. I've been to Read more [...]

Sisters of Anarchy Ice Cream

We happened upon Sisters of Arnarchy Ice Cream when visiting (another 5 Heart Rating) a local cider producer, Downeast Cider House, on Boston Bay. LIterally on the water. It was a beautiful summer day, perfect for an ice cold cider and even better for some of the best ice cream I have ever had. Maybe the best. (Keeping in mind I am originally from the Quad-Cities where Whitey's Ice Cream originates and is found on many of the world's best ice cream lists.) Like Whitey's, Sisters of Anarchy, in Read more [...]

MakeUp Eraser

It's a rare occasion I am surprised. By anyone or anything. The MakeUp Eraser surprised me. Shocked would be a better word. My daughter is really into taking care of her skin. I've learned a lot from her. She won't put anything on her face that isn't completely natural and will only use product that is environmentally safe and packaged as such. So when she gave me a MakeUp Eraser and told me that all I have to do is wipe my face with the cloth soaked in warm water to removed mascara, eyeliner, Read more [...]

David A. Arnold, Comedian

UPDATE: It is with great sadness to say that David suddenly passed recently. My sincere condolences and appreciation to his family that so generously shared him with the world. The life of a stand-up is not easy. And I’m certain there were many sacrifices made by his beautiful wife and children so that he could bring laughter to many. I am so grateful we got to see him.    I've seen my fair share of stand-up. Mostly at intimate venues such as Laugh Boston where we saw David A. Arnold. Read more [...]

Grill 23 & Bar, Boston

If nothing else, go to Grill 23 & Bar in Boston for dessert and espresso martinis! That's exactly what we did. We haven't been back yet to enjoy the full menu, but we will. Recently, we did what I am sure many miss out on at this great restaurant - we had dessert! I'd heard about the coconut cake and espresso martini and made it a goal to go just for dessert sometime. So glad we did! (I've always thought you can tell the quality of a restaurant by two things - the dessert menu and the Read more [...]
