New Braunfels already has one so I won’t be moving there and opening a bakery. So that’s off the list of possibilities…
Anyone who knows me knows I love bakeries. My grandmother, for I was named, baked a lot and my fondest memories of my childhood are of her in the kitchen with the aroma of peanut butter or chocolate chip cookies in the air. To this day her cookies, any and all, are the best I have ever had. I loved being around her. I can still hear her laugh and she always smelled fresh-baked to me. So any time I find a really good bakery where the labor of love is apparent, all concern for calories and the fact that I think sugar is pretty bad for the body is the furthest from my mind. 2 Tarts Bakery in a small town right between Austin and San Antonio, Texas is just such a bakery.
2 Tarts has the best cupcake selection I have ever seen, made “from scratch with love”. I can’t speak to the quality of all of them (yet) because I have only had the one pictured here in the feature photo but I can tell you this one is the best cupcake I have ever had. It is obvious it was super fresh and only the best ingredients were used. Note: I chose this cupcake specifically because it’s the anniversary of my mom’s journey beyond and to say she loved Hostess Cupcakes would be an understatement.
This is, like all of the businesses in New Braunfels, Texas, a very welcoming place. As soon as you walk in you are greeted and made to feel like you are the most important person in the world. I will be driving back to New Braunfels to visit this bakery again. It helps that my bff from 6th grade lives there too!
If you’re ever anywhere near this quaint Texas town, be sure to visit this great bakery. As we were leaving, the gentleman who was sitting outside the door when we walked in stopped us to ask where we were from and proceeded to tell us that he had been all over this great country and that he thinks New Braunfels is the absolute best place to be. One thing I will say, they have some of the nicest people I have encountered. Right up there with Belfast, Maine and Staunton, Virginia.

PS I have visited a number of bakeries around the country that won Cupcake Wars on the Cooking Network. 2 Tarts is better than any of them!
